That Marion Jones story really GETS to me. Not so much because she took steroids. It's not even because of that speech she gave outside of the courthouse. She FULLY admitted to her fauly, her lies, effing up...the whole ball of wax. No excuses, no crap or shifting of blame - just straight up admission of guilt combo'd with a heartfelt apology.

No, it's the fact that we're all so impressed or, for lack of a better word, admiring her for coming forth and saying all of that to the world. The real thing that GETS me is that her action has become the ABnorm. How long has it been since someone else in trouble did this? Isn't this what we're all supposed to do? Isn't this what Bonds and McGuire and that horny senator should be doing too? Enron? THE LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD? But it's more accepting to lie. We expect it. It's all about CYA. Fuck integrity. I'm lyin my ass off to save my own. So people like Jones look like gems. I'm not taking away from what she did, it takes guts. But she's not some freakin saint because she told the truth years after the fact.

As Chris Rock once said, You don't get credit for taking care of your kids. You're SUPPOSED to take care of your kids!!!!
